Gwen Torfin
Interior Designer
Gwen has worked at The Hearth Room for over five years. She has a wide range of experience in the interior design field, from small residential or commercial remodeling projects to large-scale new home and commercial buildings, and she continues to work on a diverse mixture of projects. Some of her previous work has won state and national awards: First Federal Bank in Crosslake, MN, Bar Harbor Supper Club on Gull Lake, MN, the Red Mountain Lodge Retreat on Horseshoe Lake, Christmas Point Haven on Deer Lake, MN, and most recently, two homes at the Sunset Knoll Family Retreat on the Whitefish Chain, MN. Her work on the Red Mountain Lodge Retreat was also recognized in Kitchen Trends Magazine.
As an interior designer, Gwen feels that designing a home or business is like developing the personality of the space to match the client. She says “the best way to do that is to listen closely to the client’s wants and needs in order to take that initial design concept to the next level.” Gwen prides herself in keeping the whole picture in mind when finalizing the details, especially when faced with any challenges. Ultimately, the design project should be “enjoyable for the client,” she says.
Gwen earned a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design and Interior Decorating from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. She is currently working on her certifications and is an allied member of the American Society of Interior Design (ASID).
